This three part series on battery care and life has been quite helpful. I purchased a Liberty 4500 system back in 2001. It has served me well, until now. It is in definite need of a new battery. I searched the 2008 price list but could not find replacement battery pricing information. Would you please direct me to where that infomration can be found?

Your time and assistance are appreciated.

  2. Anchor Audio says:

Claudia – I’ve sent you an email on how to get pricing and information for our replacement batteries.

  3. Bob says:

Great information for when the day comes that we will need to replace the batteries! Thank you. Now, where can I download a replacement copy of the operating instructions for the Liberty MPB-4500 and MP-4501?

  4. Anchor Audio says:

Thanks for the comment Bob…here’s the link to download the user manual for the MPB-4500. There is information on the 4501 in this user manual but we don’t have manuals for our companion speakers.

  5. Lou says:

I have an MPB 4600 series and need to know the price of the replacement batteries.

  6. Anchor Audio says:

Lou – There are two batteries in the MPB-4600

    1) 151mm X 65mm X 94mm / 12V 7-9AH Part# LIBH-BAT = $78
    2) 134mm x 67mm x 60mm / 12V 2.6-3AH Part# 205-0002-000 = $65

  8. Robert Bowers says:

Liberty MPB-4500 — if we decide not to replace the dead batteries is there a potential problem with battery leakage or battery swelling and cracking?

  9. Anchor Audio says:

    Robert,

The batteries in the MPB-4500 are sealed lead acid batteries and should not leak, but your system will not operate with dead batteries so your best bet is to replace them.

  10. Frank Stewart says:

I have a Megavox PB-35 in for service. The battery is definitely bad. Should this unit operate with the battery disconnected? With the RC-16 power supply connected, the power led blinks briefly when the switch is turned on and the charging led is blinking. Power supply is putting out the listed AC voltage. 12 VDC is present at the battery connection on the circuit board.

I am trying to determine if there are other problems before I recommend that the customer purchase a new battery.

    Please advise.

  11. Anchor Audio says:

    Frank,

The power required to turn on your MegaVox is greater than the current supplied by the charger. Therefore, you must have a charged battery to turn on your unit.

Where can We purchase Schematic/parts list information and replacement parts. I work for the Tipton County Board of Education in Covington,TN. I am a qualified Electronics tech and have recently closed my repair shop. I am still doing electronic repair for the school system , since there is no longer a repair shop in our county.
I am working on a Liberty MPB-4500. The Main pwr txfmr is open on the primary side. Can we purchase repair parts from you?. Thank you for your helpful website, eagerly awaiting your reply, Dee May

  13. Anchor Audio says:

Hi Dee…thank you for your comment. I will have one of our customer service reps contact you shortly via email with part number(s), pricing and how to purchase Anchor Audio repair parts.

  14. Bruce says:

I have a Liberty MPB-4500 and need to replace the batteries. What batteries will I need and is there a serial number on them?

  15. Anchor Audio says:

Hi Bruce…there are two possible battery options for the MPB-4500 series depending on how old the unit is. So I will need the serial number off your Liberty unit to determine which battery you need. You should find the serial number on the back panel near the bottom of the system. Most likely, the battery you will need is the 205-0002-000 and you will need 2 of them. Please let me know the serial number so I can confirm the right battery for your system. You can email me directly at robertf@anchoraudio.com

  16. Scott Southerland says:

The elementary school I teach at has a really beat up Liberty system. It is at least a few years old, and does not currently work. When turned on, the red power indicator light flashes, there is an audible “click” then the unit shuts off. This happens regardless of whether or not the unit is plugged into an outlet. Is this a battery issue, or should the system work when plugged in, regardless of battery condition? What is the cost of replacing batteries. Can the control knobs (pots, I think?) be replaced as well. All the knobs on our system seem to have been sheared off, which will make adjustments difficult. It looks like a great system, so I’d love any feedback as to whether we might be able to get it operational again. Thank you.

  17. Anchor Audio says:

Hi Scott, looks like your Liberty has been through a lot. It could be more then just a battery issue, but it’s hard to diagnose the real problem until our tech guys can take a look at it. Please call our customer service department at 1.800.262.4671 ext. 178 and they will set you up with an RA# so you can send it in for repair.

  19. Uddhava says:

When i opened to replace the megavox battery i found a different type of battery compared to the slideshow of the megavox. The battery inside was 12V, 6.0 Amp. I tried to buy it locally but batteries of these dimensions (90x70x102) are not easy to get with the same Amps…

  20. Anchor Audio says:

@Uddhava – Depending on when you purchased your MegaVox you might see a different battery inside. We switched battery manufacturers, which upped our AMPs to 6. Either size will still work in the MegaVox.

I enjoyed reading your review on the MegaVox Pro.

  21. Mark Pelham says:

I also have a fairly beat up Liberty 4500 at my elementary school. It has been a great unit until it began shutting itself off every 10 minutes or so no matter if we are using a mic or auxiliary input. It sounds very similar to the issue that Scott has above. The battery will no longer hold a charge and we are missing a knob or two. I also would like to know where we can get it serviced.

  22. Anchor Audio says:

Mark…it seems like your batteries have run their course. To get the missing knobs replaced as well as the batteries call us for a return authorization number for repair – 800.262.4671 ext. 178 so we can discuss your options.

  23. Paco says:

I have four of your Liberty LIB6000 systems. Our swim league really likes these. They’ve performed well.

    Our serial #s are: F0602710, F0602709, F0602706, F0602712.

The batteries in two of the units will not charge. I assume they need replacement.
    – the charge light flashes when the unit is plugged in to the wall
    – the unit works fine when plugged in, but will not operate unplugged.

    1. Can you provide me with a authorized dealer in the Wash DC suburbs (area code 20191) so I can get the batteries replaced? I do not want to crack the case and void the warranty if at all possible.

    2. By my reading of the warranty, these batteries are still under warranty. Please advise.

    3. Do all of these units have the same batteries?

    Thanks again

  24. Anchor Audio says:

Paco…I have sent you an email regarding your questions above. Please let me know if you need anything else.

  25. Becky Robert says:

Thank you for the great how-to on the battery replacement. Could you please send me a price list and how-to purchase the replacement battery?

    Thanks,
    Becky
