How To: Know when your battery is truly dead

February 12th, 2008Posted by alexj in How To

Today we want to quickly identify the warning signs that can indicate your battery has finally run its course and might need to be replaced.

Remember, the average battery life for the Liberty, Explorer Pro, Beacon, Acclaim and MegaVox Pro is about 3-5 years, but if your system should experience any of the following signs your battery might need to be replaced.

  • The unit clicks and turns off, once you flip the power switch on.
  • When you go to charge the unit, it immediately reports a “Full Charge”.
  • After charging the unit overnight, the charge light does not flash indicating a “Full Charge”.
  • The unit will power on, but only gives the user 5-10 minutes of speaking time.

It’s important to note that if your sound system exhibits one of these symptoms, you can still continue to use it. Just plug it into a nearby outlet and continue normal use. However, it is still recommended that you have the battery replaced as soon as possible.

Is it recommended to drain your battery occasionally? I vote no, but wonder if you agree?

I agree Jason. Since lead acid batteries have no memory there is no need to drain the battery. In fact it could do more harm then good. It is best to always keep your Anchor sound system plugged in when not in use.
